New Zealand´s Evans scored a double points-finish in the Grand Prix of Hungary and remains in title contention. Gelael took 10th on Sunday
Pertamina Campos Racing enjoyed another positive weekend at Hungaroring, considered to be “Monaco without the walls”. The Spanish squad had its incredible efforts at the twisty Hungarian track rewarded with valuable points ahead of Hockenheim. Both Indonesia´s Sean Gelael and New Zealand´s Mitch Evans delivered good performances.
Friday´s qualifying was a difficult time for Pertamina Campos Racing. Hungaroring always gets tricky in qualifying, with several yellow flags, and last weekend wasn´t different at all. Evans posted 14th-fastest lap time on the starting grid with his 1:26.966. On the other hand, Gelael took 19th spot with a lap time of 1:27.246.
In race one, Evans managed to move through the field and finished tenth, a good starting point for race two. Gelael got unlucky as he suffered a puncture on lap one but he still managed to set the 2nd fastest race lap.
On Sunday, both Evans and Gelael managed to avoid incident through an eventful first lap. Evans moved up to fourth but finally came fifth. Gelael claimed another top-ten finish starting from the back of the grid.
Hockenheim plays host to Round 7 next weekend.
