Sweden’s driver was forced to retire with his M4ELECTRO, which is run by Mahindra Racing in collaboration with Campos Racing, in Mexico City ePrix. His teammate Heidfeld also saw his race to come to an early end

Mahindra Racing made a great start to the fifth round of the all-electric FIA Formula E but unfortunately Lady Luck wasn’t on their side later in the race. Felix Rosenqvist and Nick Heidfeld, with their M4ELECTRO cars, were forced to retire at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, which hosted the Mexican ePrix.

In Qualifying Rosenqvist achieved another pole position in the Super Pole. The Swede led the way on a 1:01.645, which put him over two tenths clear of António Félix da Costa. Oliver Turvey and Sebastien Buemi also failed to improve Rosenqvist’s best time. “Quick” Heidfeld delivered a strong performance as well to line up 8th on the starting grid with a time of 1:02.230.

Later in the race, Rosenqvist led the opening 14 laps but after his first pit stop everything went from bad to worse and finally was forced to retire on lap 34. Heidfeld’s race also came to an early end seven laps earlier.

The sixth round of the series will take place in Punta del Este (Uruguay) on 17 March.
