Corsican Filippi took fifth and sixth finishes in the Race of Portugal at the wheel of the Campos Racing-entered Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1
A double points-finish for John Filippi and Campos Racing in Vila Real, which played host to the last stop of the World Touring Car Championship in Europe. At the wheel of his Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 carrying ten extra kilos, Filippi showed good speed during the weekend in the WTCC Trophy.
On Friday, Filippi had his first taste of the Portuguese track and posted 3rd-fastest lap time in testing session. Following this positive start to the event, he clocked lap times of 2:00.415 and 2:00.935 in FP1 and FP2 to finish 4th and 6th in the timesheets on Saturday morning. Corsica´s racer finished 5th in the combined qualifying with a personal best of 1:59.487.
Filippi performed pretty well during both races and came sixth in the Opening Race and climbed to fifth in the Main Race in the WTCC Trophy scoring valuable points. Filippi still currently lies fourth on 56 points in the drivers´ standings. Campos Racing also sits fourth in the WTCC Teams´ Trophy on 60 points.
The World Touring Car Championship begins its summer break before heading to Argentina on 6-7 August.
