The WTCC Race of China takes place in Shanghai and Corsican Filippi aims for another podium at the wheel of his Campos Racing-entered Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1
Campos Racing and its full-season driver in the World Touring Car Championship John Filippi travel to China for the antepenultimate round of the season next weekend. The Shanghai International Circuit features the longest straight on the calendar at an amazing 1170 meters. The back straight leads on to another iconic hairpin turn, which makes WTCC races even tighter and tougher.
Corsica´s Filippi secured his maiden 2016 podium finish in the Race of Japan earlier this month and the youngest driver to start on pole for a WTCC race will be looking to continue the same hot streak in Shanghai. The Chinese venue brings back good memories of an amazing result as Filippi stepped second onto the Independents´ Trophy podium in race 2 last year. Filippi showed extraordinary pace over the whole weekend and everybody at Campos Racing feels optimistic ahead of Shanghai.
The RML-built cars will carry zero extra weight in China as per results of the events in Portugal, Argentina and Japan.
At the moment, both Filippi and Campos Racing sit fourth in Drivers´ and Teams´ standings respectively.
Following free practice and qualifying sessions on Saturday, both races will take place on Sunday at 14.35 and 15.50, local time.
