Spain´s team and its trio de drivers did a good job in difficult circumstances
Fate didn´t smile on Campos Racing at Hockenheim where the last round before the summer break has taken place. Spain´s Álex Palou, Russia´s Konstantin Tereschenko, Netherlands´ Steijn Schothorst and the whole team showed a good pace but different circumstances made it impossible to convert into points in both races.
On Friday afternoon Campos Racing made a good start to the weekend and both Schothorst and Palou among fastest and Tereschenko also showing competitive form. On Saturday, in qualifying, Palou took 8th on the starting grid ahead of his teammate Schothorst with lap times of 1:28.838 and 1:28.918 respectively. Tereschenko posted 14th-quickest time on the grid but he was given a questionable three place grid drop after impeding another driver in qualifying.
Palou made a good race start and moved up to sixth on Saturday. But unfortunately a clash with another car ruined his chances of a good finish as he was forced to pit for replacing his damaged front wing. Finally Palou came 16th behind Tereschenko nor Schothorst made it to the finish.
On Sunday, Tereschenko and Schothorst finished 15th and 17th respectively. Palou suffered another eventful race and finished two laps down.
The GP3 Series will resume at Spa-Francorchamps next month in the frame of the Belgian Grand Prix.
