The Frenchman driver ran in podium contention at the beginning but the first virtual safety car period didn´t help his pit strategy and well-deserved chances of winning. Indonesia´s Haryanto came 16th
Sprint race for Campos Racing in Monaco and Arthur Pic scored valuable points for the Alzira-based team. Pic qualified third on the starting grid yesterday, during the rain-affected session split into two groups. Today´s Feature race, the Spanish outfit chose super-soft compound for Pic in his opening stint.
At the start Pic has remained in the third place and he pitted on lap 3, overtaking Raffaele Marciello with this pit strategy as the Italian headed into the pit lane the previous lap. At that time Pic was setting the fastest laps but a virtual safety car was deployed and the drivers up front took advantage to make their mandatory pit stops, losing less time. Anyway, Pic was stil in the top five, finally ending up 4th after 40 laps.
On the other hand Indonesia´s Rio Haryanto, who started from the back of the pack, moved through the field to come 16th.
Tomorrow´s sprint race is scheduled at 16.10 and Pic will start 5th on the grid.
